About the RRC

The RRC operates recreation facilities located in the Wood Buffalo Region of Alberta. This includes MacDonald Island Park (MIP) located in Fort McMurray, which features Suncor Community Leisure Centre, the Miskanaw Golf Club and Shell Place; the Anzac Recreation Centre presented by CNOOC in the community of Anzac; the Sonny Flett Aquatic Centre in Fort Chipewyan; and the Conklin Multiplex in Conklin.

Working in collaboration with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and the communities it serves, the RRC believes that together we create community.

We inspire Wood Buffalo to gather, play and connect.

MacDonald Island Park (MIP) is one of Canada’s largest Recreation Centers. Comprised of Suncor Community Leisure Centre and Shell Place, MIP is a hub for community in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo. State of the art facilities host sport & recreation, entertainment & events, golf and much more, with millions of visitors each year.

In a tranquil environment and central location at MacDonald Island Park, the Miskanaw Golf Club features a contemporary and challenging 18-hole course nestled amongst a backdrop of boreal forest and the Athabasca and Clearwater rivers.
